The conflict resulted in approximately 1,500 Palestinian and 13 Israeli deaths (4 deaths from friendly fire).

MIST limb reconstruction teams were deployed to Gaza in the aftermath.

Local health officials discussed with MIST the necessity for a limb reconstruction unit. Nasser Hospital was chosen as the site for the project with local Gazan surgeons taking the lead and MIST training them in Ilizarov techniques.
