Gaza 2009 Early Response

After 10 days of waiting at the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza and diplomatic pressure, MIST was eventually allowed to cross into the Gaza Strip in March 2009.

MIST carried in urgently needed medical supplies and the external fixation surgical equipment needed to treat the war casualties.

After 10 days of waiting at the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza and diplomatic pressure, MIST was eventually allowed to cross into the Gaza Strip in March 2009.

Many Gazan homes had been destroyed in the onslaught; families had to be housed in makeshift camps within Gaza. The already strained Gazan Health Service was under even more pressure to help and treat the injured from the war.

Despite the seige, the Gazans remain steadfast on educating their children.

Over the subsequent months, a further 3 teams (Greek MIST and two UK MIST) entered Gaza to continue to treat war causalities and follow-up patients that were treated by previous MIST Teams.
